Club History
Our Football
Development Manager Chris Parry formed the original ’AFC
Bluebird’ Club in 2004 as a result of spending many
years involved with coaching Youth Teams.
Some of these players were introduced with others in
preparation for the 2005/6 Season. A good start was made
with a 4th place finish in Division 4 of the Bournemouth
Hayward Saturday League. In the Bravita Cup we reached the
quarter-finals, and also the semi-final of the Page Croft
Cup.
For the 2006/7 Season the Club entered the Dorset Saturday
League. The transition to Division 1 football was very
competitive and the team finished in 13th place.
We did however have a good run in the Dorset Intermediate
Cup reaching the quarter-final stage.
Changes were made within the Club for the 2007/8 Season.
The introduction of a New Secretary/Commercial Manager, a
bigger squad of players, and a name change to ’AFC
Bluebridge’ produced better results on and off the
field.
Hopes were high for a great campaign after a good start,
ending with a 6th place finish in the 1st Division. A good
run in the Dorset Intermediate Cup took us to the
quarter-final’s again.
The disappointment of failing to reach a possible automatic
promotion spot up to the ‘Senior League’, will only enhance
our determination to do better in 2008/9.
With
pre-season approaching our re-building structure continues
with the introduction of this website that will help support
our ambition of reaching the next level of football
competition.
Development of more teams and a long term youth policy will
give added growth to the commercial possibilities of
sponsorship, helping better facilities to be realised.
Ground criteria and training infrastructure is an ongoing
target that will take this Club forward in the next 5 year
period.
